Is it just me, or does everyone seem to be in a hurry to end summer?
Some kiddos are already back in school. Others will be heading back over the next few weeks. Stores are starting to sneak fall stuff onto the shelves. And somehow there’s this idea that once school starts, summer is basically over.
I respectfully disagree.
Actually, I might not even respectfully disagree. Summer is NOT over!
For me, summer follows the calendar. It starts around June 20 and runs until around September 20. That means we still have more than a month of summer left, and I plan on taking full advantage of every bit of it.
Can We Stop Shortchanging Summer?
Somewhere along the way, we started treating summer like it runs from Memorial Day until the kids head back to school. And with some schools starting at the beginning of August these days, that makes for one seriously short summer.
No thanks.
I love celebrating all four seasons and everything that comes with them. One of the best things about living the mountain lifestyle is that every season opens the door to a completely different set of adventures.
Winter brings skis, snowboards, snowshoes, and snowy mountain days.
Spring brings melting trails, rivers, fishing, and that first glorious day when you realize you don't need five layers.
Fall brings crisp mornings, changing leaves, and some of the best hiking weather of the year.
And summer?
Summer is trail running, backpacking, camping, fishing, road trips, long evenings outside, cold beverages after a big day, and squeezing as much adventure as possible out of those wonderfully long days.
So why rush it?
Currently: A Kid in a Candy Store
Since moving SkyGOAT to Red Lodge, Montana, I've been having an absolute blast exploring our new backyard.
My current obsession is trail running around Red Lodge and getting deeper into the Beartooth Mountains. There are so many trails and places to explore that I honestly feel like a kid in a candy store.
Where do I go next?
What's over that ridge?
Where does THAT trail go?
I want to see it all.
I recently took that trail running obsession over toward Bozeman for the Bridger Ridge Run, and I had an amazing time.
Sure, I love the running. I love the mountains. I love pushing myself.
But what I really love is being around a bunch of people who are genuinely excited to be outside playing.
That's my kind of crowd.
And that's a huge part of what SkyGOAT has always been about. Adventure doesn't have to mean conquering something. You don't have to be the fastest person on the trail, climb the biggest mountain, or have the fanciest gear.
Sometimes the whole point is simply getting outside, doing something you love, and sharing that stoke with other people.

We've Still Got Plenty of Summer Left
So this is my official plea to everyone who has mentally moved on to fall:
Not yet!
We've still got summer adventures to have.
Go for that trail run. Take the camping trip. Get out on the river. Go fishing. Hike somewhere new. Sleep under the stars. Sit around a campfire. Grab some friends and head somewhere you've never been.
Or just find a beautiful spot, kick back, and do absolutely nothing for a while.
That counts too.
SkyGOAT is all about mountain adventures and beyond, and sometimes "beyond" means sitting outside with a cold beverage after spending the day doing something that made you happy.
I'm planning to squeeze everything I can out of the next month plus of summer.
Who's with me?

Meanwhile, Back at SkyGOAT...
While I've been running around the mountains, our production team has been busy too.
We're working diligently on our fall product drop, including some fresh new colors that we're expecting to arrive in early October.
And there's something else coming even sooner that I'm having a really hard time keeping quiet about...
Women's Overalls!
Yep. They're coming.
We're targeting a launch in just a few weeks, and I seriously cannot wait to get these out into the world.
More on those very soon. Stay tuned.
Until then, I hope y'all are having fun however you're spending your summer.
There will be plenty of time for crisp mornings, changing leaves, and fall adventures when they get here. And when they do, I'll be ready for them.
But right now?
It's still summer.
Let's go enjoy it! Cheers to embracing the season you're actually in!
